Odisha braces for 3 days of heavy rain as Low-Pressure area intensifies

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to witness another spell of heavy rainfall over the next three days as a low-pressure system over the north-western Bay of Bengal continues to strengthen.
Several parts of the state are already receiving heavy to very heavy showers under the influence of the weather system. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is likely to move northwards and become more organised, keeping rainfall activity active across Odisha.
The weather department has issued red, orange and yellow alerts for different parts of the state. Gusty winds of up to 50 kmph are also possible in some areas.

Red Alert in Four Districts
Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak have been placed under a red alert. These districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during the warning period.
The coastal belt as well as parts of western Odisha could also experience intense spells of rain, raising the possibility of waterlogging and localised disruption in vulnerable areas.
Orange Alert for 11 Districts
An orange alert has been issued for 11 districts, warning of very heavy rainfall. Another 15 districts are under yellow alert, where heavy rain is expected.
Residents in the affected areas have been advised to remain cautious and closely follow updates from the weather department and local authorities as the system develops.
