Jharkhand students protest, government calls for fresh talks

On the 23rd day of their protest in Ranchi, students burnt effigies of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing the State Government of ignoring their demand for a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in competitive government recruitment exams.

Similar protests were reported in several other districts, with students raising slogans against the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led government and the Congress.

Amid the growing protest, the State Government has invited student representatives for a fourth round of talks to discuss their demands.
