Man Killed as LAccMI Bus Hits Motorcycle in Jagatsinghpur

Jagatsinghpur: A 42-year-old man lost his life after a LAccMI bus collided with his motorcycle in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased, identified as Prabhanjan Sahu from Mallikapur village under Ichhapur panchayat in Balikuda block, was on his way to Balikuda Bazar to purchase groceries when the accident occurred around 9 AM.

According to sources, the LAccMI bus (OD-21-R-1613), en route from Balikuda to Banambar, struck Sahu’s motorcycle on a bridge near Nagapur. Locals rushed to his aid and transported him to the Balikuda Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Following the incident, enraged locals intercepted the bus and alerted both the Balikuda police and block administration. Police officials reached the spot, seized both vehicles, and launched an investigation. The bus driver was detained, and a case was registered based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s uncle, Manoj Sahu. The body was later sent to Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for postmortem.
As immediate assistance, the district administration provided Rs 10,000 to Sahu’s family from the Red Cross Fund. Sahu, the sole breadwinner of his family, is survived by his wife and son, a Plus-II student.
Meanwhile, locals have urged the administration to provide adequate compensation to the bereaved family.
Notably, after assuming power in Odisha, the BJP government decided to rename the Location Accessible Multi-Modal Initiative (LAccMI) bus service as Mukhyamantri Bus Service.
