Keonjhar Honoured for Excellence in Tribal Governance

Keonjhar: In a moment of pride for Odisha, Keonjhar district has received a Certificate of Recognition from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, for its outstanding performance as one of the top-performing districts under the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan.

The award was presented during a ceremony held in New Delhi, where Vibhu Nayar, Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, felicitated Keonjhar for its remarkable contributions to participatory tribal governance and inclusive development.

Expressing gratitude, Keonjhar District Collector Vishal Singh dedicated the honour to the people of the district and the grassroots teams behind the initiative’s success. “This recognition belongs to every individual contributing to Keonjhar’s growth story. Our focus remains on empowering tribal communities and ensuring that benefits reach those who need them the most,” Singh said.

Launched to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan seeks to enhance tribal participation in governance and strengthen local tribal institutions.

Keonjhar earned national acclaim for its people-centric planning, innovative welfare programs, and efficient implementation of schemes promoting education, livelihood development, women’s empowerment, and digital inclusion in tribal areas.

Officials said the recognition underscores Keonjhar’s commitment to sustainable and participatory development, making it a model district for inclusive governance and tribal welfare across the country.
