Kadam Urges Special Odisha Assembly Session on Pahalgam Attack, Operation Sindoor

Bhubaneswar: Rama Chandra Kadam, Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and MLA from Pottangi, has urged Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to immediately convene a special session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly to deliberate on the recent Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and the subsequent ceasefire declaration by U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a letter dated May 10, which was made public on Tuesday, Kadam emphasized the need for urgent discussion in the Assembly, citing the seriousness of the recent developments related to national security. He stated that the special session would serve as a platform for elected representatives to express solidarity with the victims and reaffirm their commitment to the nation’s security and unity.

“Once again, I urge the immediate convening of a special session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. In light of the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and the ceasefire declared earlier today by U.S. President Trump, it is essential that the people’s representatives come together without delay,” Kadam wrote.

This follows similar appeals by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who had on Sunday written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a special session of Parliament to discuss the terror attack and its wider implications.

Kadam had previously made requests to Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, and Speaker Surama Padhy urging the convening of a special Assembly session. He reiterated the importance of addressing the nation’s internal security concerns and ensuring that Odisha’s voice is heard on matters of national importance.

The Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent counter-terror operations, including Operation Sindoor, have drawn national attention, with political leaders across party lines calling for unity and decisive action.
