Jitendra Singh Pushes Research-to-Market Innovation

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr Jitendra Singh, has called for stronger partnerships among government research institutions, industries and start-ups to speed up innovation and ensure that scientific discoveries reach the market and benefit citizens.

Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day RISE Conclave in Kolkata, Dr Singh said the government has opened strategic sectors such as space and atomic energy to greater private-sector participation.
He stressed that a robust research-to-market ecosystem would strengthen technological self-reliance and support the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
During the event, several initiatives were launched, including the new CSIR website. Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were also exchanged between private scientific organisations and CSIR in the presence of the minister.
The RISE (Research, Industry and Start-up Entrepreneurship) Conclave focuses on four key areas—Minerals, Medicine, Materials and Machines. It aims to improve collaboration between research institutions and industry, encourage technology transfer and promote scientific entrepreneurship.
The two-day event is being jointly organised by four CSIR laboratories—CSIR-IICB, CSIR-CGCRI, CSIR-CMERI and CSIR-IMMT. Representatives from IITs, research organisations, industries and start-ups are taking part in the conclave.
