Former Choudwar Jailer Alleges Pressure to Withdraw Case Against Arrested Superintendent

Former Choudwar Circle Jailer Santoshini Das has alleged that she is being pressured to withdraw the case filed against former jail superintendent Sujit Kumar Roul.

According to Das, a senior jail official allegedly approached her with a demand to withdraw the complaint and assured her that the departmental proceedings against her would be avoided if she agreed to do so.
Roul was arrested in September 2026 following allegations of tampering with prison records and forging Das’s signature in connection with a jailbreak reported on October 2, 2025.
In her complaint, Das had accused Roul of misusing his official position, forging signatures and manipulating official records. The allegations subsequently led to his arrest.

Meanwhile, Roul has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after citing health-related reasons. He was sent to jail by police after appearing before a court on September 20.
