Elderly Man Killed After Being Hit by Goods Train in Dhenkanal

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, an elderly man was killed after being hit by a goods train near the Duburi-Budhapanka railway line in Dhenkanal district on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Gumani Behera, a resident of Mathakaragola village under Kamakhyanagar police station limits. According to sources, Behera was on his way to his farmland when he accidentally walked onto the railway track.

Eyewitnesses said a speeding goods train suddenly approached, and before Behera could move away, he was dragged and fatally injured. The impact was so severe that he died on the spot.

Following the incident, local residents and police reached the site. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the mishap.
