Cuttack Municipal Corporation Announces Fuel-Saving Measures Amid Oil Crisis

Bhubaneswar: In a major step aimed at tackling the ongoing oil crisis, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has introduced strict austerity measures to reduce fuel consumption across its operations.

CMC Mayor Subhas Singh has directed all departments to cut oil usage by 20 percent amid rising fuel prices and supply constraints. The civic body has stressed the need for immediate and coordinated efforts to ensure sustainable functioning and financial discipline.

As part of the measures, the corporation has decided to reduce the number of vehicles operating under its fleet. Officials have been instructed to adopt carpooling practices, with multiple officers encouraged to travel together in a single vehicle wherever possible.

In another major decision, the use of government vehicles has been prohibited on Mondays and all government holidays, except for emergency services and essential operations.

Speaking on the initiative, Mayor Subhas Singh said the steps were necessary to promote responsible resource management during the crisis. He stated that every litre of fuel saved would contribute to financial discipline as well as environmental responsibility.

The new directives have come into immediate effect, and all departments have been asked to submit weekly fuel consumption reports to ensure compliance. Senior officials have also been tasked with monitoring the strict implementation of the measures.
