Missing Youth’s Decomposed Body Found in Boudh Forest After 40 Days

Police recovered the decomposed body of a missing youth from a jungle near Tikirasahi under Mahalikpada panchayat in Harbhanga, Boudh district.
The deceased was identified as Pitabas Majhi of Biramchandrapur village, who had been missing since April 5.
According to reports, Pitabas left his village to perform a traditional dance at Gundurisahi under Harbhanga police limits. He suddenly went missing after the performance. His family searched extensively and later lodged a missing complaint at Boudh police station.
On Thursday, women collecting kendu leaves discovered a decomposed body inside a rocky hollow between two hills. Pitabas’s younger brother, Dhiren Majhi, identified the body and informed Harbhanga police.
Police recovered the remains and sent them for post‑mortem examination. Officials said the cause of death would be confirmed after the autopsy report. Investigators are probing whether Pitabas died naturally or was murdered and dumped in the jungle.
