Centre Revises Fuel Export Duties: Petrol Levy Hiked, Diesel Duty Cut

The Central Government has announced fresh changes to export duties on petrol and diesel for the next fortnight, increasing the levy on petrol while reducing the duty on diesel. The revised rates took effect on Friday, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance.

Under the new rates, the export duty on petrol has been raised from ₹0.50 to ₹2.50 per litre. In contrast, the levy on diesel exports has been lowered from ₹16 to ₹8.50 per litre.

The export duty on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) remains unchanged at ₹10.50 per litre. The government has also retained the existing excise duty rates on petrol and diesel sold for domestic consumption.

The fortnightly revision of export duties is based on average international prices of crude oil, petrol, diesel and ATF recorded since the previous review. The last revision was carried out on October 1, with the latest changes reflecting the subsequent movement in global fuel prices.
