Electronics Sector Provides Jobs to 25 Lakh People in India: Ashwini Vaishnaw

India’s electronics manufacturing industry has generated employment for around 25 lakh people, with the mobile manufacturing sector accounting for nearly 12 lakh jobs, Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said.

Responding to a news report, Vaishnaw took to social media to clarify the figures and share data related to the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for mobile manufacturing.

According to the minister, the government has disbursed ₹19,000 crore in incentives under the scheme. Meanwhile, direct tax collections have reached ₹25,000 crore, while GST revenue stands at ₹3 lakh crore.

The figures highlight the growing contribution of electronics and mobile manufacturing to employment generation and government revenue in the country.
