Bureaucratic Overaction in Odisha

Bhubaneswar (Surjit Kumar Dhal): Our nation is popular among all countries for its Democratic system. Our democracy has four pillars i.e. Legislature, Executive, Judiciary and Press. All the four pillars are most essential for us.

We are here to discuss about the governing system of Odisha. The second pillar of democracy looks like very weak in our State. It doesn’t mean that all the bureaucrats are in wrong route. Some bureaucrats are doing their job efficiently and some others practices sycophancy to remain in favourite field of power.

Some senior bureaucrats are sidelined and are frequently transferred for their honesty. Its out of our mind that who is the actual power holder in our State. Looking last few years, it is clearly visible that, all the ministers including their chief are just rubber stamps. In general gossip in public, it is heard that, the third floor is the power centre of Odisha. Its obvious that bureaucracy help to run a Government but it doesn’t mean that it took all the power from the elected person.

Before 2012 midnight operation, retired IAS Pyarimohan Mohapatra was the advisor to the Government. All the system was stable and smooth at that time. But now all are in fear. Even the fourth pillar of democracy is also in fear of recent bureaucratic system of Odisha. If any media house write or telecast anything against Government or against any Executive, then he is arrested immediately. The particular bureaucratic group and their boss think that they are the master. But in a democratic system, the public are the real God.
