India Kills 100+ Terrorists in ‘Operation Sindoor’ Strikes on PoK Camps

New Delhi: The Indian Armed Forces have successfully carried out ‘Operation Sindoor’, a massive cross-border offensive that resulted in the neutralisation of over 100 terrorists and significant damage to terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and parts of Pakistan, top military officials confirmed on Sunday.

Addressing a media briefing, Lt. General Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), said the operation targeted nine major terrorist camps spread across PoK and Punjab province in Pakistan. Among those eliminated were high-profile militants involved in the 1999 IC-814 hijacking and the 2019 Pulwama terror attack.

Lt. Gen. Ghai also reported that around 40 personnel from the Pakistan Defence Forces were killed during the precision strikes. He emphasised that Army Commanders have been given complete autonomy to act decisively against any future provocation or cross-border threats.

Joining the briefing, Air Marshal A.K. Bharti, Director General of Air Operations, stated that terrorist training facilities in Bahawalpur and Muridke were struck with high-precision weaponry. He said the airstrikes aimed to cripple terrorist logistics and eliminate key operatives.

On May 8 and 9, multiple Indian cities faced threats from drones and unmanned aerial vehicles, which were successfully intercepted and neutralised by India’s air defence systems, Bharti added. In retaliation, the Indian Air Force launched counterstrikes on military targets inside Pakistan, including a major facility in Sargodha and a radar installation in Lahore. He also accused Pakistan of using civilian aircraft as shields during the strikes.

Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, representing the Indian Navy, confirmed that naval forces were on high alert and deployed strategically across the Arabian Sea. He said the Navy worked in close coordination with the Army and Air Force to ensure a unified and calibrated response.

‘Operation Sindoor’ marks a significant escalation in India’s counterterrorism posture, reinforcing the country’s commitment to act decisively against threats emanating from across the border.
