Diarrhoea Outbreak in Puri

Puri: A diarrhoea outbreak in Kanasa, Puri district, has affected 40 people, with two deaths reported in the past few days.

Villagers in Gadisagoda, Gopinathpur, Jagulaipada, and Jamalagoda have been severely impacted. Sarathi Pradhan of Nuagaon and Sachala Sahu succumbed to the disease, raising concerns among residents.

Patients are receiving treatment at Kanasa medical and Gadisagoda medical facilities. A team of doctors and experts from Puri and Bhubaneswar may visit soon to investigate the cause of the outbreak, suspected to be contaminated river water.

To manage the situation, a special 28-bed ward has been set up at Kanasa medical.
