Aradhana Misra Mona Takes Charge as UP Congress Chief

New Delhi: Newly appointed Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Aradhana Misra Mona on Saturday thanked the party’s central leadership and said the INDIA bloc was strengthening ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

“I will uphold the dignity of this position with complete dedication and honesty,” she told IANS, noting that her family has been associated with the Congress for four generations.

Mona has replaced Ajay Rai as the UP Congress chief, while Saharanpur MP Imran Masood has been appointed working president as part of the party’s organisational reshuffle ahead of the Assembly polls.

The daughter of veteran Congress leader Pramod Tiwari, Mona is a three-time MLA from Rampur Khas and has served as the Congress Legislature Party leader in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. Chaudhary Virendra Singh has now been appointed the new CLP leader.

Reacting to Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar’s remarks about Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party candidates allegedly voting for the Samajwadi Party, Mona said the strengthening of the INDIA bloc would become more evident in the run-up to the 2027 polls.

On recent developments involving BSP leader Akash Anand and party chief Mayawati, Mona described the matter as an internal issue of the BSP and said any decision would be taken by Mayawati.

The Congress reshuffle also saw Devinder Nishad and Alok Prasad appointed as senior vice-presidents of the UPCC.
