Pranavi Urs Makes History With Gold, India Wins Women’s Team Silver

Pranavi Urs scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Asian Games gold medal in individual stroke play, delivering a superb performance at the Kasugai Country Club East Course.
Pranavi carded an even-par 70 in the final round to finish at 15-under 265, securing the gold medal. She also played a key role in India’s women’s team, which won silver with a combined score of 14-under 546 India’s first medal in the women’s team golf event at the Asian Games.
Pranavi began the final round with a three-stroke lead over Singapore’s Shannon Tan but faced a setback on the third hole after a triple bogey dropped her to second. She responded strongly, making birdies on the 6th, 10th and 13th holes to reclaim the lead before finishing the 18th hole at even par.
China’s Yin Ruoning and Singapore’s Shannon Tan shared the silver after finishing at 14-under.
Among the other Indians, Aditi Ashok finished 14th at two-over 282 after shooting a three-under 67 in the final round, while Diksha Dagar finished joint 23rd at 12-over. Aditi had entered the final day in contention but slipped down the standings after a difficult round.
Pranavi’s gold and the women’s team silver gave India a memorable double-medal haul in the golf competition.
