58-Year-Old Man Burnt To Death In Rourkela House Fire

Rourkela: A 58-year-old man died after a fire broke out in his room while he was asleep in the Madhusudan Pali area of Rourkela’s Railway Colony late Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Jitendra Saha. His son, Rohit Saha, was sleeping in a separate room and escaped unharmed.

The incident reportedly took place around 1.30 am when local residents noticed smoke and flames emerging from Jitendra’s room. They immediately raised an alarm and alerted the fire services while trying to control the blaze and rescue the occupant.
However, their efforts were hampered as the room had been locked from inside. By the time firefighters reached the location and managed to deal with the flames, Jitendra had already succumbed to his burn injuries.
Following the incident, personnel from Plantsite police station arrived at the scene and recovered the body. It was subsequently sent to Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) for postmortem examination.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation to determine what triggered the fire and the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
