India Likely to Maintain 7% Growth in FY27: Sitharaman

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that India is expected to sustain economic growth of around 7% or higher in the financial year 2026-27, despite ongoing global uncertainties.

Addressing the Indian diaspora in Chicago during her visit to the United States, Sitharaman said India has maintained its growth momentum despite geopolitical tensions and supply-chain disruptions linked to the conflict in West Asia.

She said disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz initially affected the supply of crude oil, petroleum products and fertilisers to India. However, the country was able to reroute supplies and manage the impact.

The Finance Minister also said the government has protected farmers from rising global fertiliser prices by keeping domestic prices stable through subsidies.

Sitharaman added that the government will continue with structural reforms and focus on attracting more capital, particularly foreign investment, as the Indian economy continues to expand.
