PM Modi Conferred Uzbekistan’s Highest State Honour During Tashkent Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to Uzbekistan, has been conferred the country’s highest state honour, ‘Oliy Darajali Do‘stlik’ (Order of Friendship), by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. With this, the number of top international honours received by PM Modi from foreign countries has reached 36, making him one of the most internationally decorated Indian prime ministers.

During his visit to Tashkent, PM Modi held bilateral talks with President Mirziyoyev, with discussions covering several areas of strategic cooperation. Uranium supplies from Uzbekistan to India also figured in the talks, with both sides signalling progress on strengthening cooperation in this sector.

PM Modi received a ceremonial welcome after arriving in Tashkent, including a Guard of Honour at the airport. He later travelled with President Mirziyoyev in the same vehicle, highlighting the warmth in bilateral ties.
Earlier on Sunday, PM Modi also participated in a yoga session organised by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.

President Mirziyoyev praised PM Modi’s leadership and described him as a close friend. He highlighted India’s rapid economic growth and progress in areas including digitalisation, information technology, artificial intelligence and space exploration.

The Uzbek President also said that India’s voice and influence in global affairs have grown stronger and expressed happiness over the country’s achievements under PM Modi’s leadership.
