Odisha Government Appoints Advocate Biraja Shankar Mishra As OHRC Member

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has appointed advocate Biraja Shankar Mishra as a Member of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC), according to a notification issued by the Law Department.
The appointment has been made by the Governor of Odisha under Section 22(1) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.
Mishra, a practising advocate from Kendujhar district and son of Narayan Mishra, will take charge of the post from the date he formally assumes office.
The Law Department notification, issued under the authority of the Principal Secretary, stated that the appointment would come into effect once Mishra takes charge of his responsibilities.
With the appointment, Mishra will serve as a member of the state’s statutory human rights body, which deals with matters relating to the protection and promotion of human rights in Odisha.
