Odisha Private Bus Fare Hike Announced

Passengers travelling across Odisha will now have to pay slightly higher fares as private bus ticket prices have been revised upward across multiple categories.
The revised fare structure affects ordinary, express, deluxe, AC deluxe and super premium buses operating throughout the state. The fare hike comes amid rising fuel prices and increasing operational costs faced by transport operators.
New Bus Fare Rates In Odisha
According to the revised notification, the updated fares per kilometre are:
- Ordinary buses: Increased from 88 paise to 90 paise per km
- Express buses: Increased from 92 paise to 94 paise per km
- Deluxe buses: Increased from ₹1.27 to ₹1.31 per km
- AC Deluxe buses: Increased from ₹1.55 to ₹1.59 per km
- Super Premium buses: Increased by 6 paise to ₹2.47 per km
Fuel Prices And Transport Costs Behind Fare Revision
The fare revision comes at a time when transport operators across the country are facing pressure from fluctuating fuel prices, maintenance costs and operational expenses.
Private bus owners in Odisha had been demanding a fare revision for several weeks, citing rising diesel prices and increasing costs of spare parts and vehicle servicing.
Passengers React To Bus Fare Hike
While the increase per kilometre appears small, frequent travellers and daily commuters may feel the impact on long-distance travel expenses.
Passengers travelling between major cities such as Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur and Sambalpur are expected to see slightly higher ticket prices from now on.
Transport officials said the fare adjustment is aimed at balancing operational sustainability while ensuring continued public transport services across the state.
