Odisha CEO Holds Meeting With Political Parties On Electoral Roll Revision

Bhubaneswar: To ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across Odisha, an important meeting was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R.S. Gopalan.

Senior representatives from all seven recognised political parties in the state attended the meeting. The discussion focused on preparing a clean, accurate, and error-free electoral roll by including eligible voters and removing the names of ineligible persons.

Addressing the meeting, CEO R.S. Gopalan explained the technical and administrative procedures involved in the Special Intensive Revision process. He highlighted the important role of political parties in strengthening democracy by helping authorities identify genuine voters and maintain the purity of the electoral rolls.

He also urged all political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at every polling station to make the revision process more effective and cooperative.

During the interaction, representatives of various political parties shared their suggestions and concerns regarding new voter registration, issues related to migrant voters, and the deletion of names of deceased or shifted persons from the voter list.

Gopalan appreciated the constructive feedback provided by the party representatives and assured them that all valid suggestions would be considered during the revision process. He further stated that the entire SIR exercise would be conducted strictly in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.
