Early Heatwave Conditions Grip Odisha as Temperatures Rise Above Normal

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has started witnessing above-normal temperatures, signaling the onset of early heatwave conditions across several parts of the state. The sudden rise in mercury levels has raised concerns about a potentially intense summer ahead.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jharsuguda recorded a high of 37°C on Friday, which is 3°C above normal. Six other locations in the state reported temperatures exceeding 35°C.

Sambalpur recorded 35.2°C, while Hirakud and Parlakhemundi both registered 35.6°C. Titlagarh and Bhadrak recorded 35°C each, and the state capital Bhubaneswar reported 34.4°C.
The weather department has forecast dry conditions to prevail across the state in the coming days. Day temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 3°C over the next two days. Night temperatures are also likely to increase by a similar margin, with minimum temperatures projected to climb by 2 to 3°C.
With both day and night temperatures on the rise, Odisha may continue to experience heatwave-like conditions, setting the stage for a prolonged spell of intense heat.
