Odisha Woman Dies in Chennai, Tamil Nadu Ammonia Gas Leak Toll Climbs to 13

Bhubaneswar: The death toll from the ammonia gas leak incident in Tamil Nadu has increased to 13 after another worker from Odisha succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment in Chennai.
The deceased, identified as Budhabari Naik, hailed from Dhanari Sahi under Alluri Panchayat in Angul district’s Khamar police station area. She had been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in Chennai following the gas leak and passed away during treatment.

Her death comes a day after another victim from Odisha, a woman belonging to the Juanga community from Keonjhar district, also died while receiving medical care in Chennai.
Following the deaths of the Odia workers, the Odisha government has announced an ex-gratia assistance of Rs 10 lakh for the families of each deceased victim.
The tragic industrial accident has claimed 13 lives so far, with several others continuing to receive treatment, raising concerns over workplace safety and emergency response measures.
