Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shatters Youth ODI Record With Explosive 171 Against UAE

Bihar’s rising cricket star, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, delivered a stunning performance on Friday, smashing 171 runs against the UAE in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025. His blistering knock, which included 14 sixes and 9 fours, has made him the highest six-hitter in a single Youth ODI innings, breaking a 17-year-old record.
Sooryavanshi raced to his century in just 56 balls and was eventually dismissed for 171 off 95 deliveries. He surpassed Australian cricketer Michael Hill, who had hit 12 sixes against Namibia U19 in 2008.

New Record: Most Sixes in a Youth ODI Innings
As soon as Sooryavanshi struck his 13th six, nearing the 150-run mark, he officially became the batter with the most sixes in a Youth ODI innings. The 14-year-old prodigy also became the first player in Youth ODI history to hit over 50 career sixes, setting yet another milestone.
Dominant Partnership at ICC Academy Ground
The record-breaking knock came at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. UAE U19 opted to field first after winning the toss. Indian U19 captain Ayush Mhatre opened the innings with Sooryavanshi, giving India a strong start. Mhatre fell early in the third over, but Sooryavanshi joined hands with Aaron George, and the duo stitched a massive 212-run partnership, taking control of the match.
Three Centuries at Just 14
Sooryavanshi’s rapid rise continues to amaze the cricketing world. He recently made headlines in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he became the first teenager to score a SMAT century in just his 17th T20 innings. He now has three T20 centuries to his name.
His U19 teammate Ayush Mhatre has also scored consecutive centuries, while France’s Gustav McKeon had earlier hit two T20 tons. In November, Sooryavanshi struck a 32-ball century for India A against UAE during the Rising Stars Asia Cup.
With each performance, the young sensation is redefining youth cricket standards and emerging as one of India’s most promising future stars.
