Bhubaneswar: Youth found dead in Canal, family alleges murder

Bhubaneswar: A youth was found dead by the side of Bhimpur canal embankment under Pahala police station limits in the State Capital city on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Prabhat Behera, from Anantapur village.
As per reports, Prabhat’s body was found lying near the canal with several deep injury marks inflicted on his head and face.
Locals discovered the body and immediately called the police.
A plastic pipe and a broken liquor bottle has also been recovered near the body, and his scooter was found nearby at some distance.
Family members alleged that Prabhat was murdered and the body was left by the side of the canal.
According to his mother and brother, a local sand and construction material supplier called Prabhat out of the house late Tuesday night and allegedly forced him to drink.
The alleged murderers are said to have thrashed him badly and then abandoned the body near the canal.
The family also stated that Prabhat always had arguments with the supplier regarding payment. They had advised Prabhat not to work with him due to frequent arguments.
When Prabhat did not return after going with him they reported that Prabhat’s phone was not reachable after he left the house and he was found dead near the canal next morning.
Police are investigating the matter and examining all aspects of the incident to determine how Prabhat was murdered.
Further investigation is underway.
