Odisha Police Tighten Security Measures Ahead of NEET-UG 2026 Examination

Bhubaneswar: With the NEET-UG 2026 examination scheduled for June 21, Odisha Police have stepped up preparations to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the nationwide medical entrance test across the state.

Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania on Tuesday reviewed the security arrangements during a high-level meeting held at his camp office in Bhubaneswar. Senior police officials from across the state participated in the discussion, both in person and through virtual mode.

During the meeting, the DGP instructed district Superintendents of Police to implement a three-layer security system at all examination centres to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain order throughout the examination process. This year, a total of 132 centres have been designated across Odisha for conducting the NEET-UG examination.

Officials reviewed a range of security measures, including surveillance through CCTV cameras, protection of question papers stored in bank lockers, crowd management at examination venues, traffic regulation, and emergency preparedness plans.

Special emphasis was placed on monitoring social media platforms to curb the spread of rumours and misinformation related to the examination. The cyber cell has been directed to remain on high alert and closely track any suspicious online activity.

Khurania also instructed officers to thoroughly verify all security arrangements in advance and ensure strict compliance with protocols for the collection and transportation of OMR sheets to secure locations after the examination.

Warning against any form of malpractice or negligence, the DGP said that irregularities and security lapses would be dealt with firmly. He urged all field officers to remain vigilant and fully prepared to handle any situation that may arise during the examination.

The review meeting was attended by Crime Branch Director General Binaytosh Mishra, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, and IG (Central Range) Dr. Satyajit Naik. Range IGPs, DIGs, and district SPs from across the state joined the meeting virtually.
