Youth killed, two injured as bike crashes into tree in Kandhamal

Phulbani: A person was killed while two were seriously injured as a motorcycle on which they were traveling hit a roadside tree.

The road accident occurred near Chanchedi Chhak under Raikia police station limits in Kandhamal district.

Police reports said three youths of Letingia village under Nuagaan block had gone to play cricket in Gudrikia village of Chanchedi panchayat.

When returning home on a motorcycle after the match, they met with the accident near Chanchedi Chhak as the rider lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the tree.

Locally, the fire brigade and the police were alerted about the mishap.

Firemen rescued the youths, and the two injured have been rushed to a hospital.

While the deceased’s body has been sent to Raikia Community Health Centre for postmortem examination, police have registered a case and started an investigation.
