Seven-Year-Old Girl Found Dead in Bhubaneswar Pond; Family Seeks Probe

Bhubaneswar: The mysterious death of a seven-year-old girl in Bhubaneswar has sent shockwaves through the city, with her family alleging negligence and demanding a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

The deceased, Sonakshi Singh, was a Class student at MBS School. According to her family, she had left home for school on Wednesday morning as usual. However, they were informed around noon that the child could not be found on the school campus, leading to widespread concern.

Her family members immediately began searching for Sonakshi at various places, but despite hours of effort, they were unable to locate her.

The search came to a tragic end later in the evening when residents noticed a child’s body floating in a pond located in a nearby reserve colony. They alerted the family and local authorities, following which the girl was pulled out of the water and rushed to Capital Hospital. Doctors, however, declared her dead on arrival.

The incident has raised serious questions, with the bereaved family accusing the school administration of lapses in ensuring the safety of students. A written complaint has been filed at Kharavela Nagar Police Station, seeking accountability for the circumstances that led to the child’s disappearance and death.

Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain how the child went missing from the school premises and the circumstances surrounding her death. The family has demanded a fair, impartial and time-bound probe, along with strict action against anyone found responsible.
