Bijepur Nursing Home Sealed After Probe into Death of Pregnant Woman and Newborn

Bargarh: The district administration has sealed a private nursing home in Bijepur following an inquiry into the alleged medical negligence that reportedly resulted in the deaths of a pregnant woman and her newborn.

The action comes after Narayan Mahanand, a resident of Tuhilamal village in Bijepur, accused the nursing home of failing to provide timely and proper treatment to his wife during childbirth. In his complaint, submitted to Bargarh District Magistrate Aditya Goyal a few months ago, Mahanand alleged that delays and negligence by the hospital staff led to the tragic loss of both his wife and the baby.

Acting on the complaint, the district administration, in coordination with the Health Department, launched an investigation to examine the allegations. After reviewing the findings of the inquiry, officials decided to seal the nursing home.

The operation was carried out by the administration in the presence of the Bijepur Tehsildar and police personnel to ensure law and order during the process.

Officials said the investigation report forms the basis for the action taken so far, adding that further legal and administrative steps will be initiated in accordance with the findings of the probe.
