Schools in Puri to Remain Closed on June 29 for Devasnana Purnima
The District Education Office, Puri, has announced that all schools under the Puri Municipal Corporation will remain closed on Monday, June 29, 2026, due to the anticipated large congregation of devotees for Devasnana Purnima at the Shri Jagannath Temple.
The order, issued by the Collector and District Magistrate, applies to all government, government-aided, and privately managed institutions from Sishu Vatika to Class XII, including Prabhushree English Medium School, Mothers Public Vidyalaya, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, and other schools in the city.
Authorities expect heavy footfall around the temple and adjoining areas as devotees gather for the sacred bathing ritual of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra. The administration has taken precautionary measures to ensure smooth crowd management and public safety.
