President Droupadi Murmu to Visit Odisha from August 3; State Launches Preparations

President Droupadi Murmu is set to return to her home state for a three-day visit beginning August 3, with official engagements planned across Bhubaneswar, Kataka, Brahmapur and Taptapani. As preparations gather pace, the Odisha government has begun coordinating security and logistical arrangements after receiving the President’s draft itinerary from Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The proposed programme has triggered extensive planning across multiple districts. Security deployment is being strengthened in Bhubaneswar, Kataka and Brahmapur, while traffic regulation and route management are being worked out to facilitate the President’s movement between airports, railway stations and event venues.
The visit will commence with President Murmu’s arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 2:10 pm on August 3. After reaching Lok Bhavan, where she is scheduled to stay, she will travel to Cuttack later in the day to attend the inauguration of Jagadguru Kripalu University as the chief guest.
Her itinerary on August 4 shifts to southern Odisha. The President is expected to board a special train from Bhubaneswar to Brahmapur before travelling by road to Taptapani in Ganjam district. During the visit, she is scheduled to offer prayers at the Maa Kandhuni Devi Temple. She is then expected to spend the night at the Army Air Defence College in Gopalpur, or another designated location, according to the draft schedule.
Although preparations are underway for the three-day tour, the President’s engagements on August 5 have not yet been disclosed. Officials said the programme for the final day will be announced once the itinerary receives formal approval.
The draft schedule has already been shared with the Odisha government and the concerned departments, allowing authorities to begin advance planning. While the itinerary is still subject to confirmation, officials are moving ahead with arrangements to ensure the President’s visit proceeds without disruption.
