Orange warning for Mayurbhanj, Koraput as low pressure set to intensify rain in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system is expected to develop over the Bay of Bengal on Thursday which could bring heavy to more heavy rain in Odisha.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a cyclonic circulation is in action over the north Bay of Bengal adjacent to the south Bangladesh.

The weather officials said a low pressure area is likely to form on Thursday.

Due to this system, the state will witness a rise in the intensity and span of rains with possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in parts of Odisha over the next week.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has also issued weather alert for many districts.

An orange warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mayurbhanj and Koraput.

Similarly, a yellow alert has been sounded for ten districts in anticipation of heavy rains.

The state which has been grappling with hot and humid weather has got some respite as rains have lowered temperatures in many parts of Odisha.

Light to moderate rain continues at various parts of the state today.
