Odisha Vigilance Seizes Crores in Unaccounted Cash During Multiple Raids Over Two Years

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has reported a series of major cash seizures during search operations conducted across the state over the past two years, officials said on Sunday.
According to an official press release, the anti-corruption agency has recovered substantial unaccounted cash from several government officials belonging to different departments.

One of the latest seizures includes ₹2.04 crore recovered during searches conducted on Baikuntha Nath Behera, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), ITDA, Baliguda in Kandhamal district on June 6, 2026.
In another major operation, ₹4.28 crore was seized from Debabrata Mohanty, Deputy Director of Mines, Cuttack Circle, during searches carried out on February 24 and 25, 2026. Officials said this is reported to be the highest-ever cash seizure in the history of Odisha Vigilance.
Similarly, ₹73.66 lakh was recovered from Jitendra Kumar Panda, Additional Tahasildar of Baranga in Cuttack, during searches on December 12, 2025.
On July 25, 2025, vigilance officials seized ₹1.43 crore during raids on Rama Chandra Nepak, Deputy Ranger of Jeypore Forest Range in Koraput district.
Another major seizure of ₹2.56 crore was made on May 30, 2025, during searches on Baikuntha Nath Sarangi, Chief Engineer (Plan Roads), Rural Works Department, Bhubaneswar.
Further, ₹2.08 crore was recovered during searches on Santanu Mohapatra, Deputy Director and Project Director (Watershed), Malkangiri, on February 6, 2025.
Officials said the series of seizures highlights ongoing anti-corruption efforts and intensified vigilance operations across the state.
