Odisha Sets October 31 Deadline for Urban Ward Delimitation

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has begun the process of redrawing ward boundaries and determining seat reservations in urban local bodies ahead of the municipal elections expected early next year. The final notification for the revised wards and reserved seats will be issued on October 31.

For the Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur and Rourkela municipal corporations, details of the proposed ward boundaries, reservation of seats, sketch maps and relevant resolutions must be submitted to the Housing and Urban Development Department by September 24.
The department will release the draft notification on October 5, allowing residents to file objections and suggestions until October 14. After examining the submissions, the final notification will be issued on October 31.
For municipalities and Notified Area Councils (NACs), district collectors will publish draft notifications on September 24, with objections accepted until October 3. Preliminary notifications will follow on October 7.

Appeals against the preliminary notifications can be submitted to the department between October 7 and October 21. The government will consider the appeals and take final decisions from October 26 to 28, before issuing the final notification on October 31.
