Nabarangpur Forester Suspended Over Alleged Illegal Tree Felling, Financial Irregularities

The Nabarangpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) has suspended Forester Bipin Kumar Harijan over alleged unauthorized felling of eucalyptus trees and financial irregularities.

Harijan, posted in the Maidalpur Section under Dabugam Range and formerly in charge of the Mohara Section under Jharigaon Range, was suspended with effect from the afternoon of September 18, 2026.
According to the suspension order issued by DFO Udayan Subuddhi, IFS, preliminary findings pointed to irregularities in the unauthorized felling of eucalyptus trees along the Deobandha–Jamadarpada road. A report submitted by the in-charge Forest Range Officer, Jharigaon, also referred to circumstantial evidence of an alleged illegal monetary transaction during Harijan’s tenure at Mohara Section.

The department had earlier served him a show-cause notice. His response was subsequently found unsatisfactory, prompting disciplinary action under the Odisha Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1962.

Harijan will remain suspended pending departmental proceedings. During the suspension period, his headquarters will be the Office of the DFO, Nabarangpur Forest Division. He has also been directed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission and will receive subsistence allowance as per applicable service rules.
