Odisha NEET Re-Exam: Chief Secretary Reviews Preparations for June 21 Test

In the midst of rising public outrage over the NEET exam paper leaks, Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg held an urgent online meeting with district collectors on Friday to review the final arrangements for the upcoming re-test. The re-exam is set for June 21 across Odisha. Official figures show 56,983 students will sit for the test, which will happen at 132 centers in 27 towns across the state.
During this meeting, Garg explicitly directed district administrations to elevate these arrangements to a top priority. According to a report by The New Indian Express, She advised collectors to personally oversee each stage of the preparation. The aim here is to make sure the re-exam takes place without any security lapses, confusion, or unfair practices. To get there, Garg called for stronger security arrangements, safe transport of exam materials, and careful checks to ensure all centers are actually ready. She also ordered that enough magistrates, police, and support staff be deployed to every test venue.
Keeping the exam process clean is another concern. Garg gave clear instructions to district and police teams to monitor social media closely so they can catch and stop rumors, fake news, or cheating attempts before these spiral out of control. Garg made it clear that swift, uncompromised action must be taken against any suspicious activity detected either online or offline. On top of that, all 132 exam centers will get extra CCTV coverage to keep an eye on things. And to tie things together, collectors now need to run local preparedness reviews and coordination meetings as soon as possible to finalize their plans before the big day.
