Odisha Extends UG Admission Deadline

The Higher Education Department of Odisha extended the deadline for undergraduate (UG) admission applications for the 2026–27 academic year. With this move, students now have six more days to finish their enrollment using the official Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal. The extension should help thousands of applicants who’ve run into delays—maybe their documents weren’t ready, or they got stuck trying to choose the right subjects.

Now, candidates must submit their Common Application Forms (CAF) by June 16. After the window closes, the state will release the first merit list for UG admissions on June 22. The department has set the schedule so that the entire admission process moves quickly, and newly admitted students can start their classes by July 10.

This year’s admissions bring a few major changes. The process follows the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 closely. Students can now specify both their major and minor subjects right in the application, giving them more control over their academic path. Plus, the department introduced registration for specialized Apprenticeship-Embedded Degree Programmes through the SAMS portal. It’s a big step where students can choose courses that combine traditional academics with hands-on industry training, building pathways to real-world experience right from the start.
