No-confidence motion brought against Chameli Ojha

Kendrapara: A no-confidence motion was brought against Tikhiri Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Chameli Ojha on Saturday in Kendrapara district. The voting on the motion is scheduled to be held on July 27.
The outcome of the vote will determine whether Chameli Ojha continues as the Sarpanch of Tikhiri Gram Panchayat or is removed from the post.
According to sources, 21 ward members have extended support to the no-confidence motion against the Sarpanch. An application bearing the signatures of all 21 ward members was sent to the Sub-Collector on this regard on July 23.
The Sub-Collector has directed all ward members to remain present during the voting process on July 27. In addition, the Sub-Collector has also written to the Mahakalapada Block Development Officer (BDO) about the no-confidence proceedings and directing necessary arrangements for the vote.
The reasons behind the no-confidence motion have not been officially disclosed.
Chameli Ojha was arrested by the police for disrupting government works and misbehaving on July 13. Later, she got bail and was released from jail.
Following her released from jail, Chameli has been sitting on a hunger strike against the block authorities and has demanded justice.
