Odisha Launches ‘Angan Ka Utsav’ Across 74,224 Anganwadi Centres

Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Saturday launched the three-day ‘Angan Ka Utsav’ campaign to promote nutrition, health awareness and early childhood development across the state.
The campaign will run from September 27 to 29 at all 74,224 Anganwadi Centres, under the ongoing Poshan Maah and Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
During the launch, Parida announced an increase in the clothing allowance for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers from ₹1,390 to ₹1,500. The revised amount includes ₹600 from the Centre and ₹900 from the Odisha government, with a total allocation of ₹22.30 crore benefiting around 1.48 lakh workers and helpers.
The Women and Child Development Department also introduced DIPTI (Direct Invoice Payment & Tracking Interface) for digital management of electricity bills at Anganwadi Centres. Developed with DISCOMs, the system will enable online verification, direct payment and bill tracking, reducing the administrative burden on Anganwadi workers.

About 37.11 lakh beneficiaries and Anganwadi Management Committee members, along with 13.03 lakh children aged 3–6 years, are expected to take part in the campaign.
The three-day programme will include food and nutrition competitions, storytelling and recreational activities for children, and awareness sessions on schemes such as POSHAN, SUBHADRA, MAMATA, PM-AWAS and ADVIKA. Local foods, millet cookies, fruits and a healthy ‘Tiranga Thali’ will also feature in the activities.
Parida urged families and communities to actively participate and recognised Anganwadi workers and helpers for their role in delivering nutrition and child-development services at the grassroots level.
