NEET Aspirant Dies by Suicide in Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, a NEET aspirant from Odisha’s Bhadrak district allegedly died by suicide after reportedly fearing poor performance in his second attempt at the medical entrance examination.
The deceased was identified as Jyotiprakash Barik, a resident of Nandore village under Tihidi police limits in Bhadrak district.

According to family members, Jyotiprakash had secured 330 marks in his first NEET attempt. Determined to improve his score, he had been preparing for the examination once again and was staying with his parents in a rented house located behind the Treasury Office in Bhadrak town.
Sources said the student had been under severe mental stress regarding his future and often expressed fear that he would not succeed in life. He appeared for the NEET examination for the second time on May 3.
After returning home from the exam, Jyotiprakash reportedly evaluated his answers himself and became convinced that his performance had once again fallen short of expectations.
On the day of the incident, when his mother had gone to assist her husband at his shop, Jyotiprakash allegedly took the extreme step by hanging himself inside the rented house.
He was immediately rushed to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The sudden death of the young aspirant has left his family devastated. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
