Monsoon Fully Active, Odisha Braces for Downpour

The southwest monsoon has become fully active across Odisha, covering the entire state within 11 days.

The Regional Meteorological Centre issued a heavy rain warning for several districts, including Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur, over the next 24 hours.

Officials confirmed that all 30 districts remain under a yellow alert for thunderstorms and lightning. Continuous rainfall has been reported in many areas since the monsoon advanced. Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nayagarh, and Cuttack are likely to experience intense showers today.

Meteorologists noted that weak monsoon conditions caused light rainfall in some regions earlier, but models now indicate stronger activity. Experts predict above-normal rainfall in the coming days, with temperatures expected to stay higher than usual.

Weather specialists warned that irregular rainfall patterns could affect agriculture this season. Odisha may experience warmer conditions overall, making crop management more challenging. Authorities urged residents to stay alert and follow local advisories as heavy rain continues across the state.
