Massive Night Patrolling and Drunk Driving Crackdown Intensified Across Bhubaneswar & Puri

Security measures were significantly intensified across Bhubaneswar and Puri on Tuesday night as Commissionerate Police launched a large-scale special operation to boost public safety and maintain law and order.
The overnight drive included extensive toll checking, vehicle inspections, road blockades, and surveillance at several strategic locations.
Police Target Drunk Driving and Suspicious Activity
In Bhubaneswar, police teams focused on identifying drunk drivers and suspicious movement across major roads and intersections. Multiple checkpoints were set up throughout the capital city to monitor traffic violations and prevent reckless driving. Officials thoroughly inspected vehicles and questioned suspicious individuals as part of the citywide enforcement campaign.
Puri Sees Coordinated Late-Night Operation
A similar large-scale operation was conducted in Puri under the supervision of SP Prateek Singh. Police personnel carried out coordinated patrolling and verification drives across crowded tourist areas, beachside roads, isolated locations, narrow lanes, and other sensitive zones to strengthen security in the pilgrim city.
Public Awareness Drive During Patrols
During the operation, officers engaged with residents and commuters, spreading awareness about road safety and encouraging cooperation with law enforcement agencies. Citizens were urged to remain alert, avoid drunk driving, and immediately report suspicious activities to the police.
More Enforcement Drives Ahead
Authorities said the intensified night patrolling and crackdown are aimed at preventing criminal activities, improving road safety, and increasing public confidence in policing. Officials confirmed that similar coordinated security drives will continue across urban centres in Odisha in the coming days.
