Man Arrested with Heroin Worth ₹14.2 Lakh in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: The Excise Flying Squad (EI & EB, Unit-I, Cuttack) on Friday busted a narcotics case under the NDPS Act and arrested a 29-year-old man for illegal possession of heroin.

The accused, identified as Rajesh Kumar Sahoo of Bhuinpur under Panikoili police station in Jajpur district, was apprehended on April 17 during a raid conducted under the supervision of Rosan Isu Hansda and as per the direction of S.E. Samarjit Dash.

During the operation, officials recovered 107 grams of heroin from his possession. A green and yellow Bajaj auto-rickshaw used by the accused was also seized. The total estimated value of the seized contraband along with the vehicle is around ₹14.2 lakh.

The seizure took place in front of Samrat Cinema Hall within the jurisdiction of Madhupatna police station in Cuttack.

Following the arrest, the accused was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to trace the source of the narcotics and uncover the distribution network linked to the case.

The raiding team comprised Sub-Inspector Amit Kumar Biswal, SI S.K. Sakir Ulla, ASIs Karna Oram and Ajay Sahoo, along with constables Diljit Dash, Gaurang Nayak, Annapurna Ganda, Sankarsan Rout, Jagannath Sahoo, Chandrakanta Sahoo, Sibananda Sarangi, and driver Krushna Mohan Das.
