Balangir Schools, Colleges Closed Till April 21 Amid Intensifying Heatwave

Balangir: In view of the escalating heatwave conditions across Odisha, the district administration in Balangir has announced the closure of all educational institutions from April 18 to April 21 as a precautionary measure to protect students.

The decision was taken by the District Collector following a sharp rise in daytime temperatures, making it unsafe for students to attend classes. Officials stated that the move aims to reduce exposure to extreme heat and prevent heat-related illnesses among children and young adults.

As per the directive, all schools, colleges, and other educational institutions in the district will remain closed during this period. Authorities have also indicated that the situation will be reviewed, and a decision on extending the closure will be taken based on weather conditions in the coming days.

Odisha has been witnessing severe heatwave conditions, with several districts recording unusually high temperatures, prompting administrations to implement precautionary measures to ensure public safety.
