Indian Navy Prepares for Spectacular Navy Day Celebration at Puri Beach

Puri: In preparation for Navy Day on December 4, the Indian Navy conducted a rehearsal at Puri Beach, with Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) Vineet Agarwal overseeing the arrangements. SP Agarwal urged public cooperation, emphasizing the significance of the event for both the state and the nation.

The Indian Navy will perform a grand ‘Operational Demonstration’ off Puri’s coast, showcasing the strength and versatility of its fleet. The event will include ship maneuvers, mock rescues, and dynamic displays by naval helicopters, fighter jets, and patrol aircraft, offering spectators a rare insight into naval operations.

Highlighting the participation of indigenously built vessels, the demonstration will feature Delhi-class destroyers, Shivalik-class frigates, Kamorta-class corvettes, Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs), and HAL-manufactured Advanced Light Helicopters (ALHs).

The celebration also pays tribute to Odisha’s rich maritime heritage. The state’s ancient sea trade routes, symbolized by the historic voyages of the Sadhabas (Odia mariners) to Southeast Asia, are annually commemorated during Bali Jatra in Cuttack. The naval demonstration aims to honor this legacy by blending ancient traditions with modern maritime prowess.

Navy Day, celebrated annually on December 4, marks the Indian Navy’s decisive victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, particularly during Operation Trident, which led to the destruction of Pakistan’s naval assets. This year’s event in Puri promises to be both a tribute to the Navy’s historic achievements and a celebration of India’s enduring maritime strength.
