India Opt To Bowl Against New Zealand In Rain-Hit 2nd ODI, Match Reduced To 47 Overs

Wellington, Nov 7: India won the toss and elected to bowl against New Zealand in the rain-affected second ODI at Wellington’s Hnry Stadium on Saturday. The match has been reduced to 47 overs per side due to rain interruptions.

India lead the five-match series 1-0 after securing a five-wicket victory in the opening ODI in Auckland. A win in Wellington would give the visitors a 2-0 advantage.

Captain Shubman Gill cited overcast conditions and the pitch remaining under covers for the decision to field first. India have retained their playing XI.

New Zealand, meanwhile, will look to bounce back despite the absence of opener Devon Conway, who has been ruled out of the remaining matches. Nick Kelly has been named as his replacement. Captain Mitchell Santner has also retained the same playing XI.

Playing XIs:

New Zealand: Will Young, Tim Seifert, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham (wk), Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner (c), Nathan Smith, Kyle Jamieson, Jacob Duffy, Blair Tickner.

India: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill (c), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Axar Patel, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Auqib Nabi, Gurnoor Brar, Arshdeep Singh.
