IMD Issues Yellow Warning for Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several districts across Odisha, forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph over the next four days — from October 10 to October 13.
According to the IMD, different sets of districts will be affected on each day:
October 10: Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely at one or two places in Gajapati district. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds may also occur in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

October 11: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also likely in several other districts including Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, and Koraput.
October 12: The IMD has predicted heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds in Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Similar weather conditions are also likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, and Rayagada.
October 13: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are likely in Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Rayagada districts, while thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds may affect Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, and Nabarangapur.
The IMD has advised residents in the affected districts to remain cautious and take necessary precautions against possible waterlogging, power disruptions, and lightning-related incidents. Citizens have also been urged to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins and follow safety advisories to minimize risks.
