Foul Smell From Rented House Kitchen Sparks Suspicion of Woman’s Body Buried Under Floor in Puri

Puri: A foul smell coming from the kitchen of a rented house in the Kumbharapada area of Puri has triggered suspicion that a woman’s body may have been concealed beneath the floor.

According to preliminary reports, the house owner, Manorama Sahu, told police that a woman and her son had been living in the rented premises for nearly two months. However, the woman has reportedly not been seen for the past few days, while her son is also said to have gone missing since Sunday.

The suspicion arose after residents noticed a strong and unusual stench coming from the kitchen. The house owner subsequently informed the police, suspecting that the woman could have been buried beneath the kitchen floor and the area subsequently plastered.

The matter became more suspicious after dirty water was reportedly noticed seeping through the floor, accompanied by an intensifying foul smell. This has raised concerns that a decomposing body could be lying underneath the flooring.

Acting on the information, personnel from Kumbharapada police reached the location and began an investigation. Police are examining the premises and verifying the circumstances surrounding the woman’s disappearance and the source of the smell.

Officials are yet to confirm whether a body has actually been buried beneath the floor.

Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
